Robert Shaw has curated special exhibitions of antique and contemporary quilts at museums and expositions in the United States, Japan, and Europe, including International Quilt Festival/Houston , the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. , and the University of Michigan Art Museum.

Most recently, Bob curated "Radka Donnell: The Work of Touch," which was on view at the New England Quilt Museum in Lowell, Massachusetts from April-July, 2009, and "Three American Masters: Kate Adams, M. Joan Lintault and Susan Shie," which seen by more than 259,000 visitors at the 2009 Tokyo International Great Quilt Festival in Tokyo, Japan.

Bob also lectures widely about quilts and has spoken at the American Folk Art Museum, the American Craft Museum (now the Museum of Arts & Design) in New York, the de Young Museum of Fine Arts in San Francisco, the New England Quilt Museum, the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, Sotheby's, and many other institutions.
